Hurricane Sandy Related Fundraising & Spending

In an effort to promote transparency and donor confidence, and to ensure that funds raised for Sandy relief are properly used, the New York State Attorney General's Office sent two rounds of letters to nonprofits requesting information on their Hurricane Sandy fundraising and relief activities. The Attorney General's Charities Bureau compiled the responses to these letters for public review. The responses are posted below.

In July 2013, the Charities Bureau released an interim report, The Charitable Response to Hurricane Sandy, which provides a review of the responses from the 89 organizations below. The report provides an overview of the responses, identifies key issues of concern, and includes recommendations for future disaster response efforts to be considered by the nonprofit sector.

The posting of information on this site does not constitute an endorsement of any organization by the Attorney General or confirmation of the truth or accuracy of the information reported.
